Albanian Earthquake 14 January 2024

Just 9 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Tirana, Tirana District, Albania. The tremor was recorded after midnight on Sunday, January 14th, 2024, at 12:17 am local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 54 km below the surface.

The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences GFZ, the first seismological agency to report it

A second report was later issued by the National Observatory of Athens NOA, which listed it as a magnitude 4.6 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre EMSC at magnitude 4.6, and The Seismological Survey of Serbia SSS at magnitude 4.6

Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
